Thank God we are all unique and all called to different things. One of our youth pastors shared a fun email about how kids view love. He finished the list with a brief story of a 4 year old boy found sitting on his neighbors lap who was in his backyard crying. When he was all done, he came back home to a questioning mom who asked what he was doing. The little boy said, "I was just helping him cry."
Sometimes we look around us at how God is using those around us and want to be used like he uses that person. We think it looks so great and beg God to do that with us. This youth pastor said, just imagine how silly I'd look, 6 foot 3, 200 pound guy, sitting on this neighbors lap in silence. Absolutely awkward to say the least.
If we pray that we too get to sit on the neighbors lap, we could easily miss how he wanted to use us in that neighbor's life. Instead, we need to remain focused on God and God's desires for our lives will be impregnated on our hearts and we will KNOW what needs to be done. 4 Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart. (Psalm 37:4). He will actually give your heart desires - and since they will be from Him, He is in fact filling your heart with HIS desires as you seek HIM and get close to HIM!
That's what I want to be about!! Not seeking God's voice, but seeking GOD! Deuteronomy 4:29: " But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul."
